Weekly Schedule Update
from Scoutmaster Scanlan

Our cancellation policy follows the Community Use of Facilities policy of Montgomery County Public Schools. Please note that this does not always follow the school closing policy. For example, school may be closed because of snow but the buildings may be open in the evening for community use. We will meet if county facilities are open for public use. There may be exceptions to this policy, if in doubt check this web site, your e-mail, or call patrol leaders for the latest update.

Be Prepared . . .
Weather conditions for many troop activities can vary greatly from those here at home in Silver Spring. If an activity listing contains a zip code, enter it in the weather search box on the left for an up to date forecast at the activity location.

NOTE FOR TROOP 209 PARENTS

Your participation in Troop activities is encouraged and welcome.  What's even MORE important is to make sure that you take some basic, brief training on WHAT Scouting is all about.  Youth Protection Training is a must, and you can do it online!  PLEASE speak with Mr. McNiece, Mr. Mihalski or Scoutmaster Scanlan to find out how.  A trained "Scouter" is better able to participate, to help other Scouts and to add thoughtful ideas to the Troop Committee planning.  See "University of Scouting" information below, if you'd like to join some of us in furthering our Scouting/training skills.  Also, there's New Scout site for ALL Parents you should check out:
http://www.scoutparents.org/

sessions at Camp Snyder this spring. All crews planning on
going to Philmont or the DoubleH Ranch must have at least one
person certified in Wilderness First Aid, so sign up now for

You will need to have your CPR card and a recent medical form
to attend. The cost is $75 per person. It is a 30 hour class
that is crammed into a 46-48 hour time period. The class size
is 24 students and you will work as crews of six with two
excellent teachers assigned to your crew.
